Greetings!

On Thursday August 7 2008, Fragapalooza will once again open its doors for
4 days of non-stop gaming!

With our new 65,000 sq ft location, Northlands Sportex, we are looking to make this one of the best events yet. We are planning some great fun events and tournaments with a lot of prizes to give away. Tent city is also back!
For those of you that donâ€™t know, back in the earlier FPâ€™s we had an area sectioned off specifically for people to put up tents for sleeping. This has returned and you will now be able to sleep at the event with as much comfort as you want. Tent space is limited, so please keep that in mind when choosing the size of your tent. If in doubt, ask!

Registration is open with the first 400 PAID registrations entered into a draw for a shiny new Video Card from Nvidia, and the first 200 PAID registrations will be eligible to win a high end CPU from Intel. So the first 200 have a chance at winning both!

Early registration also carries another bonus! Not only do you get entered into some wicked draws, but you also get the ability to select and reserve your seat for the event. Check out http://www.fragapalooza.com/site/seating for a map of the venue. Remember, only those people who pre-pay get to select a seat in advance. Donâ€™t worry, if you pay at the door there will still be plenty of seats available on a first come first serve basis.

Once again we are asking for volunteers to help with the event. If you are over the age of 18 and can commit some time to help us out, contact Michael Hollands (mikeh AT fragapalooza.ca) to get an application. You will be an integral part of the success of the event and get a unique opportunity to meet tons of new people. Razer is also back again this year bigger and badder than ever! Not only are they going to sponsor some tournaments (details to follow), but they are also giving away 3 all-access event passes for Fragapalooza 2008. All you need to do is enter on their website at http://lanparty.razerzone.com/raffle/Fragapalooza/ . If that wasnâ€™t enough, enter their Mantis Raffle at http://lanparty.razerzone.com/raffle/ and use www.fragapalooza.com as the Raffle Code when prompted.

Fragapalooza will be announcing the official tournament games by the end of this month. Tournaments are decided by your votes please go to the website and fill out the poll (on the left hand nav bar) if you have not done so already. Please also take note that there is a new poll, please take time to answer.

Finally, we are asking you guys to help us spread the word. The costs of advertising are way beyond our means so we need word of mouth help from our fellow lanners. We will be working on a special where if you get someone new to sign up we will enter you into a draw for a Video card. The more newbies you get signed up the more entries you get. Details on this will be on the webpage once we get details worked out.

Steam Full Pipe Game

Game looks interesing to play and the characters have some very distinct features about

themselves. Steam has some screen shots for you to see and it looks like it maybe alot

of fun to play. Sometimes you need games like this after playing games that is a lot of gun

power. A change is nice once in awhile and this game looks like it will do the job.

Everyone who's been through the Pipe describes it in a differnt way. Some say it's

similar to our world, while others say it's quite the opposite... Rather than trying to

describe the game, ltake a look at just a few of the characters you will meet on

your journey through the pipe under your bed...

IN-GAME ADS COMING TO CS 1.6

Attention Counter-Strike players, the game is about

to become infested with in-game advertising courtesy

of Valve and IGA. In an interview with Valve's Doug Lombardi,

CS-Nation questioned the marketing director on how the

ads would be implemented and the reasoning behind the

commercial change to the seven-year old mod with a

diehard community.

In-game advertisements aren't necessarily a new thing in

certain maps, but it appears Valve will dedicate much more

real estate to promotional space. According to Lombardi:

With this 2 week break we have decided to upgrade the Cor 2 game server.

We have a new mother board a ASUS 4200+ M2NPV-VM toped off with a AMD64 ATHLON X2 CPU
2 gigs ram of Dual-channel DDR2.
Our OS will be Fedora Core 5 . We know now how to get 100 tick game servers now and we are working
at building that now with Fedora Core 5.
Please bare with as we get this all install and working and tested before we turn Cor 2 back on.
